The body was yet warm when found, but life had ceased. It was identified as that of Joseph H. Selleck, of Orleans township. Selleck was in Ionia on the afternoon of the previous day, and left here for Shiloh to attend a Maccabee meeting at that place. He was intoxicated and on this account was not admitted and was persuaded by friends there to return home, distant about two miles. He walked down the track apparently, and when almost home lost his footing on an embankment, down which he slid a little way, and after floundering around in the snow, unable to regain an upright position, came to his death. When found his head was within two feet of the rail. Justice Maynard, of Shiloh, summoned a jury of inquest, which was held at the home of deceased about a quarter of a mile west of Wood’s Corners station, where he owned a farm of 40 acres. Selleck joined the Shiloh Maccabee lodge about two month ago, and if claim be not contested, the children will have the benefit of a $2,000 policy in that order. His wife died about a year ago; he leaves four children, two boys and two girls. Deceased was 47 years of age. Funeral was held on Sunday afternoon; services at the house at 2, and at Woodard Lake church at 3. Interment at Woodard Lake.
