Descendant Of Pioneer Family Dies
Miss Clara Sessions, 87, of 102 East Washington street died Monday morning at her
home.

A descendant of one of Ionia's pioneer families, Miss Sessions had lived at her
present address since 1900. She was born February 14, 1868 in a log house inBerlin township,
the daughter of John and Anna Sessions. In 1833 her ancestors came to Bertlin township
from New York state. Her grandmother was the second daughter of Samuel Dexter, one of 
Ionia's founders and her grandfather, Alonzo Sessions, was Lieutenant Governor and
held other positions in the government.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Celia Deuerling of Portland, Oregon; one brother, Roy
Session of Laguna Beach, California, and several nephews and one niece.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Stone-Kauffman
funeral home with the Rev. Court O. Adams officiating.

Interment will be in the family  plot at Highland Park cemetery.
