March 17, 1982 RUSSELL P. SESSIONS IONIA-Russell P. Sessions, 71, of Jackson Road, Saranac died March 9 in a Grand Rapids hospital. He was born dec. 15, 1919 in Palo, the son of Nathan and Cora Brown Sessions. He graduated from the Palo School and married Ruth Davis Feb. 23, 1931, in Hubbardston. Sessions moved to Ionia where he was in the construction business for several years and built many homes in the Ionia area. In 1948 he purchased what was to become Sessions Restaurant at the intersection of M-66 and M-16 which he operated until it was sold in 1969. During that time, he moved to Morrison Lake, where he lived until his death. He spent recent winters in Arizona. He was a member of the Saranac Community Church, a former Deacon of the First christian church, a life member of the Ionia Elks Club and a member of the Saranac Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one son, Gerald, of Saginaw; three daughters, Junita King of Phoenix, Lois Peacock of Lake Odessa and Carol Converse of Mason; one brother, Irvie, of Hemat, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edwin Mendenhall officiating.
