WM. SESSIONS His death Occurred Yesterday - An Old Settler Hon. Wm. O. Webster received a telegram Friday from Vickoryville, announcing the death of Hon. Wm. Sessions, one of Ionia's old and respected pioneers, at his home near that place, Thursday. Mr. Sessions suffered a stroke of paralysis some time ago, from which he never recovered. The funeral was held Friday. He was 73 years of age. Wm. Sessions was born May 2, 1821, in Marcellus, Onondage county, N.Y., and was the third of a family of four children. He came to Michigan at the age of 16 with his parents, who settled in North Plains in 1837. He remained with is father, Nathaniel Sessions, until 21 years of age, aiding in clearing and improving the farm which had been purchased and upon attaining his majority purchased a farm for himself to North Plains, clearing the same 240 acres. March 26, 1851, he was married to Miss Julia A. Jennings, daughter of John and Elizabeth Jennings of Ronald. Three children were born of this union, of whom two are living, Clarence and John. Mrs. Sessions has held various county offices, and in 1872 was elected to the state legislature, serving one term. In 1871 he moved to this city and was for many years one of its most honored citizens. He was always an active and industrious man. He was a trustee for several years of the First Presbyterian church of this city and prominent in church matters. He was also a member of the session of said church for a number of years after his removal from the city, which was about six years ago. Socially he enjoyed the confidence and respect of all his acquaintances and his death will be learned with regret.
