William Settle dropped dead while at work for Francis Kruger four miles north 
of town.  Mrs. Settle had been working there during the day and so far as 
anyone knew was enjoying his usual health.  It is reported that at the time of 
his death he stopped to lift something from the ground and toppled over.  He 
made but two or three gasps and was gone, death being almost instant.  Heart 
failure was assigned as the cause of death.  Only a little more than two 
months have passed since Mrs. Settle passed away.
