Ionia Sentinel-Standard
James R. Settle, 63, of Chicago, formerly of Muir, died suddenly Thursday 
morning early from a heart attack.  Mr. Settle was born in Muir June 1, 1876, 
the son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Settle.  He lived in Muir as a boy until 16 
years of age, when he left for Chicago, where he became employed wit the 
railroad company.  He continued his services with the railroad as engineer for 
47 years until the time of his death.

Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Charles Adams, and Mrs. Michael Kelley of Muir; 
Mrs. William Gardner of Lansing and Mrs. Frank Elvert of Detroit; also two 
brothers, William Settle, of Flint and Donald Settle of Muir.  Funeral services 
will be held from the home of Michael Kelley in Muir Sunday afternoon at 2:30 
o’clock.  Interment will be at the Muir cemetery.
