Shade, 52, passed away early Saturday morning at St. Marys Hospital, Grand Rapids after a several months illness. He was taken to Pennock Hospital April 21 and later transferred to Grand Rapids. He was the youngest of a family of seven children of Reuben and Elizabeth Shade and spent most of his life in the Lake Odessa area, moving here from Woodbury when about seven years old. In his earlier years he was employed by the Lake Odessa Produce Company and Lake Odessa Canning Company. He worked at the Nash-Kelvinator during World War II and then purchased his plumbing and heating business about 12 years ago. He has resided at his present home for the past 34 years. Complications from injuries received in several auto accidents and a fall in February were attributing factors in his illness and death. Surviving are his wife Mildred; four sons, Brandon, Dean, Marvin and Gene; six daughters, Mrs. Harold Johnston, Mrs. Finn Carter, Misses Marcelene, Karolyn, Sherrie and Linda all of Lake Odessa; one step son Robert Hill of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Harry of Oregon City, Oregon, Earl of Remus and Marion Lowell and one sister Mrs. Dan Peterman. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel with burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Rev. George Neiman officiated assisted by Rev. A. J. Pitman.
