Ionia Sentinel Standard, 29 Mar 1965

Funeral service for Charles P. Shafer, 87, of 310 East Adams street was held at 
2 p.m. Saturday with burial at Lakeside cemetery at Lake Odessa.  He died 
Thursday at Ionia hospital.  Bearers were Kenneth David, Michael Carpenter, 
L.D. Stuart and David Cope.  Officiating was the Rev. Ray R. Fassett of Zion 
Evangelical United Brethren church.

Attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Michael Carpenter of Marquette, 
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth David of Lake Odessa, Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Stuart of 
Clarksville, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd VanBuren, Mrs. Hazle VanBuren and Mr. and Mrs. 
Adrian Smith and Bessie of Jackson, Martha VanBuren of Sunfield, Mr. and Mrs. 
Keith Seitz of Vermontville, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Hunt and Mr. and Mrs. Eston 
Withey of Edmore, Mrs. Ross of Sheridan.

Mr. and Mrs. John Scholtens of Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Scholtens of 
Prudenville, David Cope of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Durwood Dow, Mr. and Mrs. 
Elwyn Down and Kenneth Dow of Sunfield; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wood of Grand 
Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Gladding of Saranac.
