The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, May 25, 1962

Mrs. Minnie A. Shafer, 71, died at her home at 310 Adams street early Friday 
morning following a short illness.  She was born in Lake Odessa, January 14, 
1891, the daughter of August and Amelia Slowinski, and was married to Charles 
P. Shafer in Ionia in September 1912.  Mrs. Shafer attended St. Johns Lutheran 
church.  

Surviving are her husband, Charles; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Carpenter of 
Ionia, and Mrs. Ewilda David of Lake Odessa; a son, Lyle Shafer of Harrison; 
one brother, Robert Slowinski of Ionia; four grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.  A son, Maynard, preceded her in death several years ago.

Funeral service will be held at Myers funeral home Monday at 2 p.m. with the 
Rev. Theodore Timler of St. Johns Lutheran church, officiating.  Interment 
will be at Lakeside cemetery at Lake Odessa.
