M. Jean Schafer, 77, of Hubbardston, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in 
Sheridan.

Jean was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Mulliken to Mike and Helen (Holbrook) DePue. 
She married Paul Schafer on Feb. 6, 1958, in Ionia. She worked for Sparrow 
Hospital and after raising her family went to work at “At Woods” in Lowell. She 
loved spending time with her family and watching the many activities her 
grandchildren were involved in. 

She is survived by three children Sue (Dan) Eller of Sheridan, Becky 
(Francisco) Schafer of Hubbardston, 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 
and step-son Ron (Lori) Schafer of Holland. Also, four sisters, Dorothy Fisher 
of Hubbardston, Carol (Ron) Stevens of Sidney, Shirley (Dick) Rinckey of Carson 
City, Dee (Ron) Corwin of Sheridan; brother, Frank (Judy) DePue; brother-in-law 
Jerry Schafer; and many nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul in 2003; three 
brothers, David, Edwin and Dean DePue; and two sisters, Jenny Schrauben and 
Kathy Cooper.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Lux 
Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City with Pastor Andy Croel officiating. Interment 
will be in East Plains Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 
to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
