Thelma was born August 29, 1921 in Dearborn, the daughter of James and Alda Rich Graham. She retired from Gibson’s in Greenville and was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 203 of Belding. She was married on November 15, 1942 to Robert H. Button. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert H. Button, on June 14, 1996; her second husband, Paul Shafer, on November 4, 1988; her parents; granddaughter, Elkie Newland; and three great-grandsons, Christopher Ruid, Brock Allen Snuff, and Shawn Robert Ridgeway. Thelma is survived by two daughters, Sharan and Richard Newland of Cedar Springs, Diana Arntz of Stanton; eight grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren; three sisters, Juanita Crawford of Greenville, Isabell Bracker of Belding, Wilma and Bud Simons of Belding; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral and committal services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Internment is in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. There is no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
