                                 Norma Shafer

Norma Yvonne (Sherman) Shafer, 71, of Moorestown, passed away in her home on the 
evening of June 23 with her family by her side.

She was born on May 20, 1937 in Imlay City to James and Lora Sherman. 

She worked at W.T. Grand in Lansing and General Tire in Ionia. For the past 
several years she has taken great joy in working with community activities such 
as the sunshine Club and the Moorestown United Methodist Church. She was a 
doting and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother that loved to spend time with 
her family and watching wildlife. She was an avid quilter and loved to spend 
time with her sisters and women of her community.

Norma married Monie (Bud) Shafer on March 22, 1963 in East Lansing.

She was receded in death by her loving parents, James and Lora Sherman, her 
brother James (Jim) Sherman and her blessed grandson Monie Dean Shafer.

She is survived by her husband, Monie; eight children, Michael Shafer, Cheryl 
Terry, Randy Shafer, Scott Shafer, Joe Shafer, Steve Shafer, Rodger Shafer and 
Lora Tapia; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-
grandchild; sisters Beverly Thayer and Donna Foxworthy.

A memorial service was conducted by Linda Carlson on June 26 at the United 
Methodist Church in Moorestown.
