May 19 – Mrs. Michael Shaffer, one of Portland’s most highly esteemed women, 
passed away at her home on Looking Glass Ave., Saturday morning at the age of 60 
years.  Mrs. Shaffer’s health has been poor for many months and she has gradually 
grown weaker since suffering a stroke of paralysis early in February.  Mrs. 
Shaffer is survived by her husband, one son Herbert of this city, two daughters, 
Mildred and Clare; one sister, Mrs. Creigg of Sunfield, and a brother, William 
Taylor, of Detroit.  Her entire life has been spent in the vicinity of Portland.
