ALTO- Agnes Evelyn Shaffer, 87, of Alto, died Tuesday at the Luther Nursing 
Home, Grand Rapids.

She was born March 26, 1906, in Clarksville, the daughter of Anthony and 
Frances Gardner McCaul.

She attended Freeport High School and married Francis Shaffer on December 17, 
1926, in Elmdale. He preceded her in death on September 29, 1984.

She and her husband lived and farmed in the area all their lives. She was a 
member of the Elmdale Nazarene Church, the Farm Bureau, and the Michigan Maple 
Syrup Association. 

She is survived by one daughter,  Virginia Heasley of Kentwood; three 
grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Vincent, Patrick, Anthony, and 
Edwin; and two sisters, Genevieve and Grace. 

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. on Friday at the Clarksville Bible Church, 
with the Rev. Philip Heap and Dr. Walter Crow officiating.

Burial will be in Bowne Mennonite Cemetery.

The family will be at the Koops Funeral Chapel - Clarksville, on Wednesday from 
7 to 9 p.m.; and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. 

Memorials have been established for the Elmdale Nazarene World Mission Society 
and the Gideon Bibles, in care of the funeral home.
