FAYRENE SHALER 1933-2017
Fayrene Shaler, age 83 of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away Feb. 27, 2017. She 
was born on May 5, 1933, in Greenville, MI, the daughter of Aubrey and 
Margaret (White) Parker. Fayrene married Kenneth Shaler on Aug. 31, 1951, he 
passed away on Nov. 7, 1998. With her husband, Ken, they owned and operated 
Shaler excavating in Saranac for many years. She was a Cub Scout leader, 4-H 
leader, Junior Color Guard where she sewed as a seamstress.

Fayrene is survived by her children, Vicky (Phil) Malone of Allendale, K. 
Russell (Kerri) Shaler of Saranac, Steve (Shelly) Shaler of Montana; 
grandchildren, Kelly, Jason, Joshua, Kendra, Dustin and Lee; 11 
grandchildren; sister, Lois Fredrickson of Florida; brother-in-law, Robert 
Shaler of Cassopolis; sister-in-laws, Lola Hunt of Lowell, Pat Daley of 
Sheridan and Phyllis Shaler of Lowell. She was preceded in death by her 
parents, husband Kenneth, daughter Valerie Jean Shaler and brother Jerry 
Parker.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Christian Rest 
Home for the loving care they provided to Fayrene. Funeral services will be 
held at 11 a.m. Friday March 3 at Saranac Community Church with Pastor Gene 
Pearson officiating. Interment at  Saranac Cemetery. Visitations will be  
held Thursday 4-7 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac and one hour prior to 
the service at the church. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to
