Ionia Sentinel Standard, 1 Aug 1984

Morris Shattuck, 86, of 744 Kent Street, Portland, died July 30 at the Ionia 
Manor.

He was born Dec. 6, 1897, the son of Will and Cynthia (Dickinson) Shattuck, in 
Ensley Township in Newaygo County.

He was a retired Orange Township farmer, a life member of the Grand River 
Conservation Club, a member of the Portland F & AM and an avid fisherman and 
hunter.

He is survived by six sons; Donald, William and Robert of Portland; Allen of 
North Plat, Neb.; Vernon of Lyons and Wayne of Adrian; 23 grandchildren, 11 
great-grandchildren; one brother, William of Kalamazoo.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Neller Funeral Home 
with the Rev. Eleanor Morrison of the Portland Congregational Church.  
Pallbearers were grandsons: Robert, James, Kenneth, Jack, Daniel and Douglas 
Shattuck.  Burial is in  Portland Cemetery.
