Ionia Sentinel, 22 Aug 1950

Oren Shattuck, 80, died at his home, 720 Bayard street, Monday at 3 p.m.  Mr. 
Shattuck was born in St. Johns on June 23, 1870.  He came to Ionia when he was 
12.

He is survived by his widow, Mary; six sons, Oren, Jr., John, Louis, Robert, 
and Kenneth, all of Ionia and Frank of Battle Creek; seven daughters, Mrs. John 
Farrell, Mrs. Robert Hope and Miss Alice Shattuck, all of Ionia, Mrs. Asa 
Randall of Battle Creek, Mrs. Walter Halsted of Muir, Mrs. Edna Dunn of Grand 
Rapids, and Mrs. Harry Meyers of Rockford; one sister, Mrs. Jay Surine of 
Hastings; and a brother, William of Ionia; 58 grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Myers funeral home.  The 
Rev. George Rentschler will officiate with interment in Highland Park cemetery.
