Shattuck, 71, of Ionia, died suddenly late Friday afternoon of an apparent heart attack. He was born in Ionia, August 4, 1914, the son of Oren and Mary (Randall) Shattuck. He attended schools in Ionia and he was married to Lucille G. Cronk in Ionia on April 27, 1935. The couple lived in Ionia and Saranac their entire married life. He worked at the Forge plant in Lansing and then Ionia Manufacturing and its successor firms, retiring from General Tire in 1976 after 30 years service. He also worked as a self-employed trucker for many years. He served with the US Army during World War II in France and Central Europe. He and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April of 1985. Survivors include his wife, Lucille; eight sons, Kenneth A. of Davison, Ronald of Ionia, Wayne of Lansing, James of Ionia, Douglas of Ionia, Edgar of Grand Rapids, Allen of Saranac, and Randy of Ionia; four daughters, Glenna Tuttle of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Richard (Lisa) Taylor of Lansing, Mrs. Ronald (Brenda) Richards of Wyoming, Mich., and Mrs. Mark (Debra) Dunmyer of Lowell; a brother, Robert of Ionia; four sisters, Margie Farrell and Louise Hope of Ionia, Mrs. Owen (Alice) Dulick of Belding, and Lucille Meyers of Baldwin; two step-sisters, Mrs. Laurin (Edna) Dunn Sr. of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Asa (Ruby) Randall of Hastings; 44 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. from the Montgomery- Leddick Funeral home with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Diabetes Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
