Michael "Mike" Owen Schafer
Died Sunday May 23, 2021-age 78 of Pewamo.
Born November 12, 1942, son of William and Esther (Wirth) Schafer.
Member of St.Joseph Church, Pewamo, the Knights of Columbus #8071 & a leader of 
Boy Scouts of America for many years.
Retired from Wohlert Corporation of Lansing after 40 years.
Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Cornelia Keilen, Julie Atkins and 
Alice (Roy) Spitzley; brother, Alvin Schafer; in-laws, Joseph Lenneman, Ruth 
Keyton, Kaye (Douglas) Kahl, Kristine (Robert) Haberhern, and Linda Wilson.
Survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice (LaDue) Schafer; children,Sara Lynne 
Schafer of Fowler, Steve (Michelle) Schafer of Saranac, William (Brenda) Schafer 
of Pewamo, and Amy (Jack) Potratz of Palo; fur pets, Molly & Lucy; 12 
grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren;Aunt, Agnes Wirth; sister, Julianne 
Lenneman; brothers, Paul (Ruth) Schafer and Charles (Sue)Schafer; in-laws, 
Doreen Schafer, James Keilen, MaryJo and Dean McVeigh, Debbie and Mark Stolze, 
Lori VanCamp, James Keyton; and many special nieces and nephews and their 
spouses.
Mass of Christian Burial will be by Rev. Darrel Kempf at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, 
June 1, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo.
Rite of Committal will follow at St.Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation Monday May 31, from 2-4 & 6-8 p., at Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St.Joseph Educational 
Trust Fund, in Michael's memory.
