Belding Banner - Thurs. May 30, 1912

The funeral of Gleason E. Shaw was held at his late residence Friday, Rev. G.W. 
Maxwell, pastor of the Methodist church officiating, interment was made in the 
Otisco cemetery. Mr. Shaw and wife came here about a year ago to reside with 
and care of her mother, Mrs. Sprague, who is in very poor health. 

A few months ago Mr. Shaw’s health failed and he grew gradually worse until 
death relieved him from his suffering. 

Gleason E. Shaw was born in Columbia, Lorain County, Ohio, January 1, 1852 and 
died in Belding May 22, 1912. He moved with his parents to Michigan in 1859 and 
his early life was spent on a farm near Saranac, Ionia County. 

He was married to Estella Sprague November 23, 1882, to this union was born one 
daughter, Erma Fern. Besides his wife and daughter he leaves two sisters to 
mourn his loss, Mrs. A.J. Root of Ionia and Mrs. E.E. Sprague of Potterville.
