October 24, 1957 VERN SHAW DIED SATURDAY Vern Shaw, 65, passed away at his home at Jordan Lake early Saturday morning after several months illness. he had been a resident here for four years, coming from Iowa. Mr.Shaw was a brick mason and worked at his trade until he retired because of illness. He was a member of the LaVerne Demaray Post No. 112, American Legion and was affiliated with the Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Beulah; two sons, Vernon of Arlington, Iowa and Wilfred of Lansing; two step-daughters, Mrs.Homer Clinton of Independence, Iowa and Mrs Ray Burleson of Bath; two stepsons, Maynard Wilson of Lansing and Howard Wilson of Lake Odessa; 19 grandchildren; one brother Frank of Elkader, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs.William Stendel and Mrs Henry Meyer of Elkader, Iowa and Mrs Merl Peterman of Lansing. Mr. Shaw reposed at the Pickens Funeral Chapel until noon Monday then was taken to the Methodist Church where funeral services were held at 3:00 pm. under auspices of the LaVern Demaray Post. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Rev. Paul Robinson officiated.
