Lake Odessa Times - Thursday April 4, 1907

DEATH NOT DUE TO OPERATION

The four-months-old babe, Irene, daughter of Mr.and Mrs.Glenn Shaw, who was 
taken to Chicago six weeks ago, for treatment by an eminent specialist in ocular 
troubles, died there last Friday from stomach trouble. Two operations had been 
preformed with the upmost success, and another one would have effected a total 
cure. A week before its death the little one suffered from a severe attack of 
indigestion, but had apparently gotten over it when the second attack came 
resulting in death.

M.and Mrs. Shaw were greatly shocked upon receiving the telegram for only the 
day before they received word that the child was getting along very nicely.

The remains were brought here Monday and a short service was conducted by 
Rev.Cook at the home of Wm. McCartney, burial being made in Lakeside cemetery.

The afflicted parents have the sympathy of all in the sad loss of their little 
one.
