The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Monday, September 27, 1943

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Belding for Ernest Shawley, who 
died Thursday in Albany, N.Y., where he had resided with his daughter, Mrs. 
John Hoffman.  For 4 years he was a Belding resident.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hoffman and Mrs. Tina Johnson, of Duluth, 
Minn.; two sons, Cpl. William Shawley, overseas, and Gordon Shawley, of Palm 
Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren and one brother, Omer, of Grand Rapids.
