Shay, 68, expired sometime during the night, Tuesday, at the home of her son, Louis Shay, on Water street, and her body will be taken across country to Carson City Friday morning for burial. Interment will take place beside the grave of her husband, Wm. P. Shay, who died in Portland July 22, 1899. Mrs. Shay was a victim of bladder trouble, having been ill with the disease for about a year. She was born in Elmira, N.Y., and in 1866 married Wm. P. Shay, a Union war veteran. The family lived at Carson City for a number of years and 38 years ago came to Portland. Mrs. Shay was the mother of eight children. The five who survive her, Mrs. Port Guthrie and Messrs. Ellsworth, Fred, Louis and Robert Shay, are all residents of Portland. Besides these Mrs. Shay leaves an aged stepmother, Mrs. Caroline Davis, a sister, Mrs. Emily Fuller, and three brothers, Will, Charles and Emmett Davis. The latter is a resident of Sheridan. The stepmother, sister and two of the brothers live at Carson, where funeral services will take place Friday afternoon at the Baptist church.
