Shay, who died at his home in this village Sunday afternoon. The cause of his death was pronounced by Dr. Martin and Dellenbaugh to be paralysis of the brain. Deceased had been subject to epileptic fits and a short time ago he had a serious fall in front of the Methodist church, striking upon his head. His death is attributed to that fall. He was attacked with awful pains in the head early Saturday morning, followed by paralysis. Mr. Shay was also an old soldier and a member of the same regiment as Mr. Jolly—the 9th Mich. He was a pensioner, also, and a member of John Megarah Post. He leaves a family of six children beside a widow. He was in the 69th year of his age. The remains were taken to Carson City for burial and where funeral services were to be held Tuesday afternoon. Deceased has a brother and other relatives buried at Caron City. He had been a resident of Portland since before the war. Brief services were held at the house early Tuesday morning by Revs. Carlisle and Stewart.
