Sentinel-Std. - Tuesday, Nov. 20, 1956

Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie M. Shay, 87, who died at an Ionia convalescent 
home Wednesday, were conducted Friday afternoon at the Neller funeral home in 
Portland.

Mrs. Shay was born in Portland township March 13, 1869 and spent most of her 
life in the Portland area, moving to Sunfield five years ago.

The Rev. Parke Newcombe conducted the services and burial was in the Portland 
cemetery. Her husband Lewis preceded her in death in 1951.

Surviving are two nephews, Carl E. Sayers of Lansing and Kenneth R. Sayers of 
Jennings and a number of cousins.
