Sheaffer MUIR-Dianne I. Sheaffer, age 71 of Muir passed away May 15, 2021 at her home after a 2 year battle with cancer. She was born January 17, 1950 in Ionia the daughter of George O. and Rose A (Gammage) Patteron. Dianne married Gary Sheaffer August 10, 2000. She was a graduate of SS.Peter and Paul Catholic School. Dianne worked at the Ionia County Courthouse for 45 years, 20+ as the county abstractor. Dianne as a lifelong friend and volunteer of the Ionia County 4-H Horse program. She was the leader of Swinging Gates 4-H Horse Hippology Team for also 35+ years. She was involved in the 4-H Hippology State Committee through MSU Extension. Dianne was a member of the Great Lakes Buckskin Association for as many years and held many positions as officer and Board of Director. She was a member of the International Buckskin Association, The American Buckskin Registry of America and the American Quarter Horse Association. Dianne was a respected horsewoman and breeder of quality Buckskin horses who also influenced the growth and development of many, many youths in the Ionia County 4-H Horse Program by sharing her love for horses. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gary and sister Rosemary Wohlscheid. Surviving is her brother Phil (Roz) Patteron of Ionia. Brother-in-law David (Shirley) Wohlscheid of Ionia. Step-children; Gary (Kendra) Sheaffer II of Wyandotte, MI and Lora (Charles) Batchelor of Shiloh, Georgia. Step- grandchildren; Gary III, Chase. Emily and Hayley. Nieces Sulynn Bettinghouse and Bethan (Chad) Shaw, Nephews Mike(Sue) Wohlscheid and Brett (Hailie) Patterson and several great nieces and nephews who were dearly loved by her. She was also survived by special friend Richard Velasquez of Muir. Cremation has taken place. Graveside Services and a Celebration of Dianne's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dianne's name to the Ionia County 4-H Program for a specific memorial to be determined. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home of Muir.
