James M. Sheaffer, aged 63, of Ionia, passed away March 13, 2006 in Ionia. He 
was born January 19, 1943 in Carson City the son of Maxwell and Geraldine 
(Kiefer) Sheaffer. James married Terry Fredericks May 29, 1965.

He graduated from Ionia High School in 1961. He worked for General Motors 
retiring after 30 years of service. James raised registered Suffolk Sheep and 
working Border Collies. He was an accomplished Cane maker and loved his roses 
(Mr. Lincoln Roses).

James is survived by his loving wife of forty years Terry Sheaffer of Ionia; 
daughters, Teresa and Greg Mc Kay of Grand Ledge, Denise Sheaffer and special 
friend Peter Steinmann Jr. of Ionia; brothers, Gary and Diane Sheaffer of 
Palo, Richard and Sandy Sheaffer of Palo; sister, Carol Sheaffer of Ionia; 
granddaughter, Angela Mc Kay of Grand Ledge and extended family of Powell 
Hwy.  He was raised by his grandparents Orville and Sadie Kiefer who preceded 
him in death.

A memorial service will be held 11a.m., Friday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. The family will receive friends and 
relatives Thursday 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
