Juanita Rhea Shearer, 91, of Belding, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2003 at 
Laurels of Kent in Lowell.  She was born at home in January 14, 1912 in Cannon 
Township, the daughter of Oliver and Elise Jane Gardner Wilkinson.  

Juanita was a member of the United Methodist Church in Belding.  She graduated 
from Rockford High School with the class of 1930 and from Butterworth Nursing 
School in 1933.  She was head nurse at Belding Hospital for many years. 

Juanita was preceded in death by her first husband, James R. Johnson, in May of 
1973; second husband, Eben “Reggie” Shearer, in 1984; daughter, Louise Yvonne 
Smith, in 1997; two brothers and four sisters.  

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, James D. and Lynn Johnson of 
Dewitt, Terry L. Johnson of Grand Ledge; grandchildren, Janice Johnson, James 
D. Johnson Jr., Gregory Johnson, Wayne Petersen, Kirt Petersen, Brad Johnson, 
Kathy Zylstra, Carol Watson; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church with Pastor 
Connie Shatz officiating.  Interment will be in River Ridge Cemetery.  
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral 
Home, Belding, and Saturday one hour prior to the service at church.  Memorial 
contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or United Methodist 
Church.
