Michael Sheehan, 79, well known resident of this city, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Ammon, last Friday night at 6 o’clock, on the eve of his birthday anniversary. He had been ill for about two weeks with infirmaties of his age and suffered a heart attack that resulted in his death. The funeral was held on Monday morning from SS. Peter & Paul church with Rev. Fr. Hugh D. McCarthy, pastor, in charge. Interment was made at Mt. Olivet cemetery. The bearers were: Alex McAlary, J.A. Holbrook, Anthony Scully, John Nolan, Fred Leahy and Harry McGowan. Mr. Sheehan has been an employee, until five years ago, of the Pere Marquette shops, having a record of 35 years continuous service. He was a hard worker and highly respected by those who knew him. For two weeks he had been ill at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Milo Rickle of Grand Rapids, and was brought to his daughter’s home here last Thursday and death came the day following. He was thought to be making progress toward recovery. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Rickle of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Ammon of Ionia, and Mrs. T. F. Banhagel, of Lansing; one son, James Sheehan of Grand Rapids, who is ill at Cadillac and was unable to attend the funeral rites; three sisters, Mrs. Timothy Leahy of Toledo, Mrs. Ned Sullivan and Mrs. Garvey of Peterboro, Canada. The out-of-town folks at the obsequies were: Mrs. Timothy Leahy, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Leahy, Miss Anna Hickey, Anthony Boardman, all of Toledo; Mrs. Ernest Ausully of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. Boyer Rickle, Vermontville; Mrs. Thomas Hearld and son, Hubbardston; Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Banhagel of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Milo Rickle of Grand Rapids; Mrs. Ned Sullivan and Mrs. Garvey of Petersboro, Canada.
