Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Bandfield chapel, Rev. Lowell J. McCarty officiating. Burial was in Danby cemetery. Mr. Sheets is survived by his wife, the former Edna Martin and three daughters. They are Miss Grace Sheets, of Toledo, Ohio; Mrs. Harold Aungst, of Danby; and Mrs. Roscoe Smith, living near Okemos. The deceased was born in Seneca County, Ohio. He came to Portland in 1900 and resided on a farm. He moved into Portland in 1912. He was a painter by trade, but was forced to abandon this profession, due to his health. He was employed in the Bandfield store for some time and later carried mail on the star route from Portland to Westphalia and Grand Ledge, as well as serving as substitute rural carrier here. After resigning this position, Charles Rader replaced him. Pall bearers were Peter Trierweiler, Lee Hendee, W. L. Cassel, Charles Munger, C. J. Hill and Lestus Kirkham.
