Jack Sheets, 87, of Ionia died Sunday morning Oct. 25, 2009 following a brief 
illness.

He was born Dec. 23, 1921 in Tipton, Iowa and was the son of the late Preston 
E. and Bertha M. (Wolf) Sheets. Jack proudly served his country and was a 
Veteran of the United States Army during WWII. He served in the European and 
Pacific Theaters and was honorably discharged in 1945. He had been a member of 
the American Legion Post #109 in Lisbon, Iowa since 1945. He retired from Iowa 
Electric Company as a line foreman in March of 1983. Jack loved golfing during 
his many years in Florida. He loved live music, including listening to his 
Michigan “grandchildren” sing and play guitars. He also loved boat rides at 
Spring Lake in the summer. Jack loved people and showed it with several 
anonymous gifts.

Jack is survived by two daughters, Pamela Haag and Deborah Daugherty; one son, 
Michael Sheets all of Iowa; special friends Gary and Nancy Peterson of Crystal 
and his companion Dorothy “Precious” Stobert; several grandchildren, nieces and 
nephews and many great friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Pauline 
Catherine, and his companion of 20 years, Margaret Rinckey. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the 
Zion United Methodist Church 423 West Washington Street in Ionia, MI with Rev. 
Cliff Allen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made 
to the Zion United Methodist Church of Ionia. Envelopes will be provided at the 
service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 
Fuller Ave. N.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49505
