Gertrude Rose “Sandi” “Trudy” (Zander) Sheldon, 67, went to be with her Lord 
Friday, May 9, 2003, at Heartland Health Care Center in Ionia.  She was born 
in Ionia October 16, 1935 the daughter of August H.F. “Fred” and Gertrude Rose 
(Darling) Zander.

Trudy married Jack Sheldon in 1960 and moved to the Iron Mountain area, where 
she remained until 1978, when she returned to Ionia.  Trudy loved painting and 
drawing, and played the guitar and the piano.  She also enjoyed singing, 
travel, and her family, and especially loved kaffee klatsches with the girls.  
She was a member of the Baptist church.

Surviving her are her brothers, S. Eugene (Beatrice) Zander of Lyons, Robert 
of Wisconsin; sisters, Dora “Dee” Miller of Ionia, Doris (Richard) Campbell of 
Lansing, Cynthia Lujan of Colorado Springs; brother-in-law, Earl Morrison of 
Ionia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were Trudy’s children, Jackie, Cathleen and infant 
twins, her parents, sisters Agnes Morrison and Laura Ruehs Schultis, her 
brother Laurence and infant twin half brothers Rodney and Rudolf.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with 
Reverend John Kirkman officiating.  The family will receive friends 11 a.m. 
Wednesday until time of service.  Interment will be in the family plot in Oak 
Hill Cemetery in Ionia.
