Shellenbarger, son of Aaron and Elizabeth Shellenbarger was born in Odessa township, Michigan, May 12, 1858, and passed away May 4, 1947, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 22 days. On February 2, 1878, he was united in marriage to Angie Roberts and to this union five children were born: Mrs. Rosa Davidson and Austin C. both in Lake Odessa, who survive him, and Charlie, Everett and Olive B, who preceded him in death. In 1917 he was united in marriage to Narretta Bennett and about 15 years ago they moved to Grand Rapids. He lived there until his death in St. Mary’s hospital to which he was taken after suffering a fractured hip in a fall at his home two days previously. Surviving besides the widow, daughter and son are one sister, Mrs. Eva Hall at Pontiac and two brothers, Linus at Charlotte and Captain in Hastings, 18 grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Having spent all of his early life here he was quite an authority on the early history of Lake Odessa and the surrounding community. He was a good friend and neighbor and a kind husband and father and will be greatly missed.
