Lake Odessa Wave-Thurs. July 14, 1977

Rites Held for C. Shellenbarger
Cyrus Shellenbarger, 98, of Route 2, Tupper Lake Rd., Lake Odessa, passed away
Thursday morning, July 7, at the Barry County Medical Facility where he was a patient since
June 28.

He was born in Odessa Township, March 16, 1879, the  son of Julius and Martha
(Curtis) Shellenbarger and had attended the Nye rural school. A farmer and self-employed 
carpenter he had resided in Arizona from 1946 to 1974 when he returned to Lake
Odessa.

Surviving are his wife, Hortense of Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. Fred
(Velma) Apsey of lake Odessa, Mrs. Harold (Greta) Prather of Gladwin and Mrs. Orville (Irene)
Babcock of Hastings; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; also a sister, Mrs. Mabel
Roush of Hastings.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pickens-Koops funeral Chapel,
lake Odessa, with burial in lakeside cemetery. Rev. I. R. Ferguson and Rev. James Dalton
officiated.
