The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, February 5, 1973
Mrs. Mary D. Shellenbarger, 84, of Clark Lake, former Lake Odessa resident, 
died Sunday noon at W.A. Foote Memorial hospital in Jackson.  She had been a 
patient since Tuesday.  Born at Chelsea, August 4, 1888, she was the daughter 
of Mr. and Mrs. Laammi McCarty.  She married Herbert Shellenbarger of Lake 
Odessa, April 15, 1906.  They lived their married life on a farm southwest of 
Lake Odessa.  He died November 4, 1959.  Mrs. Shellenbarger lived in Lake 
Odessa for a short time before moving to Clark Lake eight years ago to be near 
her son.  She attended Clark Lake Community church, was a member of the 
Ladies’ Church council and Morning Glory garden club.

Surviving is the son, Albert (Hap) Shellenbarger of Clark Lake, three 
grandsons, ten great grandchildren; one son, Perle, died April of 1952.

Funeral services will be at Pickens funeral chapel Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.  
Rev. Loyal Wiemer of Clark Lake will officiate and burial will be in Lakeside 
cemetery in Lake Odessa.
