The Ionia Standard, Friday, February 26, 1909
Odessa, Feb. 24—On Friday, Feb. 19, the people of the community were shocked 
to hear of the sudden death of Miss Ruby Shellenbarger, after her two days 
illness.  The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the M. E. 
church.  The Rev. Isaac Maurer, assisted by the Revs. A. T. Luther and Eli 
Good, conducted the service.

Miss Shellenbarger was born Nov. 6, 1890.  A father, five brothers and two 
sisters, besides a host of other relatives and friends, are left to mourn the 
seemingly untimely departure.  The Rev. Maurer spoke very feelingly, using the 
24th verse of the 102d psalm as a text.
