The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, August 9, 1937
Funeral services for William Shellhorn, 65-year-old Odessa township 
supervisor, who died suddenly in his sleep at midnight Thursday, were held 
Sunday afternoon from the Central Methodist church at Lake Odessa at 2:30 
o’clock.  Rev. Leo Manning, pastor of that church, officiated and burial was 
at the Lakeside cemetery.

Bearers included Ormal Garlinger, former Ionia deputy sheriff; Dr. M. A. 
Hoffs, Forest Branch, William McCartney, and Fred Bulling, all of Lake 
Odessa.  Music was furnished by a male quartette composed of Murl Morgan, 
Stanley Dann, Leon Gilson and Thomas Johnson,  Mrs. Thomas Johnson played the 
accompaniment on the organ.

Relatives from away who attended included Mr. and Rums. Richard VanTiflin and 
daughter, of Chicago.  The Ionia county board of supervisors attended the 
service in a group.
