Lake Odessa Wave, 2 May 1924

Francis Freeman Shellman was born in Holmes County, Ohio, May 13th, 1843, and
departed this life April 24th, 1924 at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 11
days.  At the age of 18 he enlisted with Company H. 120th Ohio Volunteers
Infantry, and served all through the Civil war being thirteen months in a
southern prison.

December 16, 1869, he was united in marriage to Katherine Ann Isenberger.  To
this union were born six children, Oliver R., Della May, now Mrs. Robert Carter,
Charles F., William H., Earl A., Florence J., now Mrs. Roy Wilson, all of this
village.  He also leaves thirteen grand-children, and three great-grandchildren
to mourn their loss, one brother living in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.  His four sisters
have passed away.
