Ionia Sentinel - Thurs. Aug. 9, 1900

ODESSA - War Veteran and An Estimable Young Lady Pass Away.

Odessa, Aug. 2. - Another veteran of the civil war was mustered out yesterday 
forenoon, about ten o'clock when Elisha Skillman joined the majority. He was a 
member of the fighting Sixth Michigan Cavalry, and spent three years in his 
country's defense. He formerly lived at Hastings and prior to coming to Odessa, 
lived in Keene township. For several years he has made his home at Fred 
Charley's on section 5, where he died. He had been in poor health all summer. 
The funeral occurs this afternoon from the house and interment will be at 
Jordan Lake cemetery.
