Ionia Sentinel Standard, 4 May 1998

Leonard (Gene) Shepard, 72, of Orleans, died May 3, 1998 in Lansing.  He was
born Dec. 24, 1925 in Grand Rapids.  He married Lorna McShane in 1960.  He was a
member of the Greenville American Legion, Ionia Knights of Columbus, Ionia Moose
Lodge, and Long Lake Cottage Association.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna McShane, of Ionia; two sons, Gordon and
Loretta Shepard, of Charlotte, and Alan Shepard of Lapeer; two daughters, Vicki
Stark, of Ionia, and Denise Ortowski, of Grand Rapids; two brothers Donald
Shepard and Bernie Shepard of Grand Rapids; seven grandchildren; and one
great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at the Lake Funeral
Home in Ionia with Rev. Melvin Fox officiating.  Interment will be in Mt. Olivet
cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 6, at the funeral home.
