Ruth L. Shepard, 80, of Six Lakes, died Monday, December 6, 2004 at Putnam 
Community Medical Center, Palatka, Florida.  She was born May 31, 1924 in 
Ionia, the daughter of Clarence and Ethel Hallock Williams.

She married Edward Shepard on March 15, 1998, at Lake Como, Fla.  Mrs. Shepard 
was a resident of Six Lakes since 1996, formerly a longtime resident of 
Stanton.  She retired as an LPN from Sheridan Community Hospital.  Ruth 
attended Frost Seventh-day Adventist Church and was a member of VFW Post 5065 
Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Brownie, Tip and 
Kenneth Williams; and two sisters, Iva Hallcok and Donnabelle Cole.  She is 
survived by her husband, Edward Shepard; son and his wife, Robert and Velma 
Witzel of Stanton; daughter and her husband, Connie and Bill Carr of Stanton; 
four grandchildren, Eve Hansen, Ann and Jim Stickney, Carla and Warren 
Griswsold, Pennie Brigham Humphrey; nine great-grandchildren; four 
stepdaughters, Linda Barber of Six Lakes, Vicki and Dan Nichols of Belding, 
Mary and Wayne Waldron of Stanton, Joyce LaLone and Tim Mitchell of Belding; 
nine step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday at Simpson Family Funeral Home, Stanton, 
with Pastor Ken Micheff of Frost Seventh-Day Adventist Church officiating.  
Interment is in Forest Hill Cemetery, Stanton.  Visitation is from 7 to 8:30 
p.m. today at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorial considerations to 
Gratiot Home Health Care.
