Kathleen Pearson Shepard, 66, of Crystal, died Wednesday at her home.  She was 
born in Ionia on February 26, 1927, the daughter of Rex and Florence Doane 
Calkins.  She was a former resident of Fenwick and was a resident of Crystal 
since 1983.  She was a member of the VFW Post 5065 Ladies Auxiliary, and a 
member of Shiloh Community Church.

Her first husband, Dale C. Pearson preceded her in death on April 5, 1988.  On 
June 12, 1993 she married Edward Shepard, and he survives her.

She is also survived by two daughters, Carol Jeffrey and Jane Grubb, both of 
Stanton; three sons, Larry Pearson of Grand Ledge, Jerry Pearson of Fenwick, 
and Michael Pearson of Crystal; four stepdaughters, Vicki Nichols of Belding, 
Mary Waldron of Crystal, Linda Barber of Lakeview, and Joyce LaLone of Sidney; 
12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; seven 
step-great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Maude Waldorf of Greenville, Norma 
Minikey of Sheridan, Carrie Garvey of Sheridan, Lucille Hoisington of Orleans, 
and Marie Wilson of Belding.  She was also preceded in death by a 
granddaughter, Melissa Grubb, who died August 7, 1970.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 3, at 11 a.m. at the Stebbins 
& Simpson Funeral Home in Sheridan with the Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  
Following cremation burial will take place at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Lansing.  
A memorial for Montcalm County Hospice has been established in care of the 
funeral home.
