Belding Banner-News, 19 Apr 1973

Funeral services for George Leslie Shepherd, 59, of 601 West Ellis, were held
Monday afternoon at Huffman Funeral Home.  Mr. Shepherd died April 13 at his
home.  Father Charles E. Steves officiated at the services.  Interment was at
St. Joseph Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Donald Hartman, Vernon McPherson, LaVerne
Keena, Cecil King, Victor Larson, David Riches.

Mr. Shepard was born February 21, 1914 in Marshall.  He was the son of James and
Mary Elizabeth (Grenier) Shepard.  He was married to Emma Jane Barnes February
29, 1936 in Lansing.  He was a trucker employed by Extruded Metals and had lived
in Belding 29 years.

He is survived by his wife Emma Jane; two sons George L. Jr. of Belding and
Robert L. of Seattle Washington; two sisters Mrs. Kathryn Spitzley of Fenwick
and Mrs. Alice Slowinski of Port Huron; one brother James of Detroit; five
grandchildren.
