Clarksville Record – 9 November 1899
Mr. Ed. Shepherd died October30, 1899, aged 53 years.  He has been a well 
known and highly respected citizen of this township for many years.  He has 
been sick for a long time, and has suffered much.  He leaves, besides a wife, 
son, and daughter, a host of sympathizing friends.  The funeral was held from 
the W. M. church of this village last week Wednesday, and was attended by a 
large concourse.

“We miss thee from our home, dear
We miss thee from thy place; father
A shadow o’er our life is cast
We miss the sunshine of thy face,
We miss thy kind and willing hand,
Thy fond and earnest care;
Our home is dark without thee –
We miss thee everywhere.”

CARD OF THANKS:  We hereby wish to express our heartfelt thanks to our friends 
and neighbors for their assistance during the death and burial of our husband 
and father.  Also to the choir for the music furnished.        Mrs. Ed.
