July 30, 1983 SHERIDAN- Duane E. Sherd, 52, of 7787 Stage Road; Route 1, Pompeii, died Friday in Blodgett Memorial Medical Center. Born May 30, 1931, he was the son of Leslie and Mildred Sherd. He was married June 14, 1969, in Pompeii, to Doris E. Collier; she survives him. Also surviving are four sons; Michael, David at home, and Robert and Timothy Waterson of Arkansas; one granddaughter; three brothers, Gerald of Memphis, Tenn., Ronald of Sheridan and Harland of Greenville; three sisters; Mrs. Velma Townsend of Belding, Mrs. Ralph (Dorothy) Field of Edmore, and Mrs. Richard (Betty) Harriman of Fenwick. He was a member of UAW Local 652 and a veteran of the Korean War; he was also a member of VFW Post 6065, Sheridan. He was a retired inspector from Oldsmobile. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. from the Stebbins and Simpson Funeral Home, Sheridan, with the Rev. Jack Gladding officiating. Burial will be in Palo Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Michigan Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
