                             JAMES E.SHERMAN

James E. Sherman, 77, of 1232 East Riverside drive, Ionia, died Monday evening 
at he Ionia Memorial Hospital.

Born in Sebewa township July 22, 1897, he was the son of Dell and Jennie 
Sherman. November 13, 1942, he was married in Ionia to Florence Jones and they 
lived their entire married life in the Ionia area.

He was an insurance agent for the Fidelity Life Insurance Company 30 years 
retiring in 1960.

He was past governor and life member of the Ionia Moose Lodge and par exalted 
ruler of the Elks Lodge and also member of the Travellers Protective 
Association.

A son, Douglas, died in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 during World War II.

Surviving besides the wife, Florence, are three sons, Terry of Ionia, Ross of 
Eagle and Craig of San Peblo, Calif.;two daughters, Mrs.Anita Bissell of Pewamo 
and Mr.Joanne Smith of Charleston Heights, S.C.; 17 grandchildren; brother Allen 
Sherman of Ohio and three sisters,Mrs.Mae Lyons of white Hall, Mrs.Ruby Jones of 
Lansing and Mrs.Edna Kelly of Charlotte.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Myers-Roetman Funeral Home.

The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
