The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, March 27, 1939
Dell B. Sherman, 72, lifelong resident of Ionia county, died at the home of 
his daughter Mrs. Charles Jones, of Danby at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 26, having 
been ill for several years with exfoliative dermatitis.  Funeral services will 
be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Banfield funeral home in Portland with burial 
in the Danby cemetery, with Rev. Harold Jacobs of Eagle officiating. 

Mr. Sherman was born March 8, 1867 in Danby, the son of Rev. and Mrs. James A. 
Sherman, and was the last survivor of the children.  He followed the 
occupation of a farmer during his life in Ionia county and was a life member 
of the Oddfellows.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jennie Sherman, to whom he was married on 
March 4, 1896, two sons, James E. Sherman of Ionia, Allen Sherman of 
Charlotte, three daughters, Mrs. Ceyland Kelly of Charlotte, Mrs. Charles 
Jones of Danby, Mrs. Nelson Lyons of Whitehall and 16 grandchildren.
