Sherry, the well known veteran of the civil war, who has been a candidate for nomination for sheriff, died at 1:20 Wed. morning, after three months painful illness. He enlisted in Co. K, 4th infantry at Muir, in June, 1861 and served three years. His career as a soldier was most honorable. He was severely wounded at Malvern Hill. He removed to Ionia about six years ago, and his wife died about two years ago. His age was 63 years. James Brogan, who died a few days ago, was a member of the same company. He leaves one son, Fred, a conductor on the Pere Marquette road, and one daughter, Mrs. John Gorham, whose home is near Cadillac. Funeral on Friday at 1:30 p.m. under auspices of G.A.R., at the home 422 Morse street; service by Rev. G.W. Moore. Interment at Muir.
