Funeral services for James E. Sherwood, 100, of Yeomans street, Ionia’s oldest
resident who died Wednesday night, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. by the
Rev. Keith Goodwin at the Boynton funeral home.  His Bearers were Donald and
Leon Pierce, Vernon Sherwood, Gus Smith, Wayne Sherwood and George Coppas. 
Burial was in Balcom cemetery.

Out of town relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. John Sherwood of
Howell; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Pierce and Mr. and Mrs. Gus Smith of Lansing; Mr. and
Mrs. Vernon Sherwood of Fowlerville; Mr. and Mrs. George Coppas of Sunfield; Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Scheiern, Mr. and Mrs. William Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sherwood
and Mrs. Evelyn Johnson of Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mead, Mrs. Bertha
Adams, Mrs. Susie Knapp and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Knapp of Hesperia; Mrs. Donna
Tissue of Lake City; and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Woodward and Mrs. Peggy Woodward of
Shelby.
